They wanted to bury Karunanidhi on Marina beach and follow it up with a magnificent memorial at the site. The DMK and Karunanidhi supporters were not happy. The AIADMK government of Tamil Nadu allotted an alternative site for burial and memorial at Gandhi Mandapam.
